1. 1. When at the charge point, sanitise your hands with an anti-bacterial gel that is 60% or above in alcohol content. If you are carrying anything, you don’t want to pass it onto others while charging. 
   2. Pick up the charging cable and plug it into your vehicle. 
   3. Plug the other cable into the charging point, lifting the flap up with the cables end to reduce contact.  
   4. Using your Plug-N-Go key fob, you will be able to hover it over the charging station, allowing you to charge without touching any button. 
   5. When your vehicle has finished charging, take the cable out of your car and out of the charging station. Once this is done, please sanitise your hands once again. 
   6. Enjoy your journey.

The British Renewable Energy Awards is the most prestigious event in the UK’s renewable energy industry calendar, making the shortlisting even more celebrated by the EV company.   

The Company Award is for “the company that’s done the most in the past year to advance UK renewables and clean technology,” an accolade Plug-N-Go hopes to earn having used the year to push forward and encourage more people to make the switch to electric. 

Throughout 2019, Plug-N-Go ensured every step they took would further the electric movement, whether that meant offering fully funded EV charge points for Local Authorities who could not afford EV charging infrastructure or simply raising awareness of electric vehicles and the positives they provide.

The new additions to the network join launch partners Char.gy and Osprey and take the total number of chargers to over 1,000 in the UK.

In addition to rapid charging and inner-city coverage, the slew of new partners will add stronger presence in the North West, East of England and Guernsey to the already considerable Electric Juice Network.

Drivers of electric vehicles (EVs) will now be able to pay with their Octopus Energy account across the participating charging networks, with all costs appearing on a single bill. As further networks are added to the roaming service, users of Electric Juice will soon be able to access many more charging stations nationwide.

With this ‘one-stop-shop’, Octopus offers a solution to a long-standing problem of EV drivers, who have criticised that there’s no standardised way of paying as each network has a different card or app. The service is open to all drivers of electric cars so that everyone can benefit from this new and more convenient way of charging – whether they are already one of Octopus Energy’s 1.7 million customers or not.

Zoisa Walton of Octopus Energy’s Electric Juice Network, comments:

“Thanks to these new partnership agreements, users of the Electric Juice Network can now benefit from considerable cross-country coverage, and even more access to rapid charging across the UK, in addition to the networks already included with the network. The promoting of EVs through Extreme E is the drive we need to get electric vehicles at the forefront of people’s minds. Of course, just because people are thinking about them doesn’t mean they will take the next step and purchase one. Additional electric vehicle charging stations now operational and new guidance for home-charging produced

Two new publicly available electric vehicle (E.V.) charging stations at the Odeon car park and two new charging stations at La Crocq Pier are now operational.

The new charging stations complement two existing stations which have been operational at North Beach car park since 2018. The next phase of work will include installing charging stations at Salerie car park. All of the charging stations will be operated by using the same app as used at the North Beach which means that users will have a number of public locations from which they can charge their vehicles.

As usage of the stations increase, additional ones may be installed within the same areas.

New operational guidelines have also been made available for electric vehicle owners who may charge their vehicles from their own homes whilst parking on-street. The new guidelines have been produced with support from The States of Guernsey Disability Officer, the Health and Safety Executive and Plug–N-Go limited as the States’ E.V. Contractor for this project. The guidelines provide information on suitable products and advice to mitigate potential trip and visibility hazards when cables cross public footways whilst they are connected to a vehicle.

Deputy Barry Brehaut, President of the Committee for the Environment & Infrastructure, said:

‘The introduction of new charging stations is one of the key steps towards lower carbon transportation referenced within the States’ Energy Policy, which was approved by the States last week. These locations are in high density areas, convenient for people who may not have their own charging stations at their home or, in the case of La Crocq Pier, close to amenity and business parking areas.

‘The expansion of publicly available E.V. charging network will be of benefit to people who already have or, importantly, are considering changing to an electric vehicle. As such, whilst other public locations that may be suitable are being considered, we would again welcome hearing from the public if they have any suggested locations.’
